Shasta County Community Wildfire Protection Plan (Additional Info)

 

The Western Shasta RCD (WSRCD) facilitated the update of the Shasta County Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP). The last plan for the county was completed by the WSRCD in 2016. The 2025 CWPP was updated with the help of GIS Consultants Deer Creek Resources. The process of updating the plan consisted of the consultants collecting data on local fire history, fuels reduction projects, and vegetation composition. They consulted with fire professionals and land managers on what fuels projects are planned, what projects are needed, and which areas are priority for receiving treatment. A series of public outreach meetings were conducted with the help of the Shasta County Fire Safe Council (SCFSC) to gather community input on what projects local residents want to see happen and where.
