Defensible Space Readiness Program

The Defensible Space Readiness Program is designed to assist eligible property owners with residences on the property who have failed the new Shasta County defensible space inspection and received a violation notice.
This program is designed for low-income, disabled, elderly, and veteran Shasta County property owners who:
- Have failed their county defensible space inspection and received a violation notice
- Live in unincorporated high fire hazard or wildland-urban interface (WUI) areas
- Face physical, financial, or access barriers AND
- Have a residence on the property
If you qualify for the grant, Western Shasta Resource Conservation District (WSRCD) sends licensed, trained crews to complete the work for you.
